After falling in love with the sea,
we adopted it into our eyes.
And watched the tides flow,
the moon’s call pulling, and
then the sea pulled us back.
We watched the stars,
but the brine in our eyes
blurred out the light and turned it into pinpoints.
We stayed on Earth. Gravity hugged our ankles.
We stopped flying. Green no longer
crawled into our bronchial tubes.
The sea pulled our eyes.
